This policy explains what Canora (canoraonline.com) keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Canora is operated by Robinson Grullon, 4-16 Hartly Pl, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410, United States. Questions go to support@canoraonline.com.
What we keep
- Your account: username, email address, language, and your password stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Your breeder profile: your name, band code, and the clubs you belong to.
- Your records: birds, pairs, clutches, notes, and the photos, recordings and videos you upload.
- Marketplace: your listings, with their photos and town; messages you send to sellers and receive about your listings; and reports of listings that may break the rules.
- Payments: which plan you have and until when. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Technical records: the server keeps short-lived logs of requests, including IP addresses, to keep the service running and secure.
Why we keep it
- To provide Canora: show your records to you, and to the people you choose to share them with.
- To send the emails the service needs: confirming your address, resetting your password, club invitations, and requests about your birds; and reminders you can turn off, such as the breeding calendar and, a week after you write to a seller, that you can review them.
- To charge for plans and to know what your plan includes.
We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use your records for anything else.
Who sees your records
- Your birds are private unless you change that: only you see them.
- If you choose “My clubs” for a bird, members of your clubs can see its band, name, breed, sex, year, parents and photos. Your notes stay private.
- If you make a bird public, anyone with its link can see the same details, without an account.
- A club’s administrators see who its members are and the bands the club issued.
- Marketplace listings are public: anyone sees them with your name and the town, never your address. A bird you attach to a listing shows its pedigree and show results, not your notes. Your WhatsApp number and email address are shown only if you choose to, and only to logged-in breeders.
- Seller reviews are public: anyone sees a review with its writer’s name, stars, comment and the title of the listing it is about, and the seller’s answer. We keep a record of which breeders wrote to which sellers, without the messages, so that only they can review; it is deleted with either account.
- When someone writes to you through the marketplace, you receive their message and their email address; when you write to a seller, they receive yours. Canora’s Site Admins, and the marketplace Moderators they appoint, can see reports and, to deal with them, the listing or review and its seller; Moderators see nothing else of your account.
- If you allow it on a listing, we may post its photos, videos, title, town and, for a bird, its pedigree, videos and song on Canora’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Facebook and YouTube then show them under their own terms.
- “Use my location” on the marketplace asks your browser where you are only to find the nearest town; the position is not kept.
Services we use
- Stripe processes payments (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay).
- Brevo sends Canora’s emails.
- Anthropic, if you use “Import from a photo”: your photos are sent to Anthropic’s API only to read the birds on them. Canora does not keep the photos, and Anthropic does not use them to train its models.
- Google, if you choose “Continue with Google”: Google confirms who you are and gives us your name, email address and an identifier for your Google account. We do not receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Our hosting provider runs the server where the records and files are stored.
- YouTube: see below.
YouTube
Canora uses YouTube API Services. By using Canora’s YouTube features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies to what YouTube receives.
- Videos you link: when you add a YouTube link to a bird or a listing, we keep the link. The video plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), which receives your visit, your IP address and browser details like any embedded video, and may set its own cookies once you press play.
- Featured listings: if you allow a listing to be featured, we upload one of its videos (or its bird’s) as it is, or make a short video from its first photo, its title, band, breed, town and song recording, to Canora’s own YouTube channel with a link to the listing. YouTube then receives that video and text; never your phone number, email address or address. We keep only the video’s YouTube identifier, to know it was posted.
- No access to your YouTube account: Canora never asks for access to your Google or YouTube account to use these features. Only Canora’s administrators connect Canora’s own channel. For that channel we store a permission (a refresh token) on our server, never in your browser, and use it only to upload featured listings’ videos and to read the channel’s name.
- Revoking and deleting: disconnecting the channel in Canora revokes the permission with Google and deletes it from our server at once. Access can also be removed at any time on the Google security settings page. If you untick “Canora may feature this listing” or ask us at support@canoraonline.com, we stop featuring it and take down a video already posted within 30 days of your request; the stored identifier is deleted with it.
Cookies
Canora uses cookies only to keep you logged in and to remember your language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Your records stay as long as your account exists. When an account is closed, its records and files are deleted within 30 days; copies in backups disappear as the backups are replaced.
Your choices
- See and correct your records at any time in Canora.
- Take them with you: My Birds and My Pairs can be exported as spreadsheets.
- Delete your account yourself in Profile, or by writing to us: see how to delete your account. To ask what we hold about you, write to support@canoraonline.com. We answer within 30 days.
Children
Canora is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you by email or in Canora before it applies.
