A place to keep the records of your canaries: birds, bands, pedigrees, pairs, clutches and show results. It works on a computer, a tablet or a phone, and everything is kept in your account.
Go to My Birds and choose Add bird. Only the band is needed. When the father and mother are in your records too, pick them on the bird and its pedigree builds itself.
My Birds →Yes. On My Birds choose Import and pick a CSV or Excel file. Canora checks the file first and shows you what it will add before anything is saved. Export gives you your birds and pairs as CSV files whenever you want.
Import from a spreadsheet →Yes. Open the Dashboard on your phone and choose Install Canora, or use your browser's "Add to Home screen". It then opens from your home screen like any other app.
A band is a code, the year and a number, for example ABC-2026-07. The code is your own band code (set in Profile) or the code of your main club. When you add a bird, Canora suggests the next free number.
Yes. In Profile choose the order of code, year and number and what goes between them (a dash, dot, slash or space); a club chooses the same for the bands it issues, in its settings. The year always has 4 digits and the number at least 2: a band typed as ABC-2026-7 is saved as ABC-2026-07. When you change your format, Canora offers to rewrite the bands you already have with your code; any band with a code, a 4-digit year and a number gets its 2 digits too, in whatever order it is written; a band without a year (such as GB 12345) is kept exactly as you type it.
Each bird is Private (only you), My clubs (members of your clubs) or Public (anyone with its link). You choose at the bottom of the bird's page. Private notes are never shown to anyone else.
Make the bird Public, then copy its public link on the bird's page. The link shows its pedigree, photos and show results, and no account is needed to open it.
On the bird's page choose Certificate, then Print / Save as PDF; to keep a file, pick "Save as PDF" in the print window. Tick boxes let you choose whether the inbreeding and the show results appear on it.
A chart of the bird and up to five generations of its ancestors. Tap a bird in it to see its photo, best show results and a recording. Ancestors that appear more than once have an amber border.
Yes, if their bird is public or shared with a club you are both in. Open their bird and choose "Ask to use as parent"; they approve or decline it in Requests.
Requests →On the bird's page choose "Sold or given to a Canora breeder?". When they accept, the bird and its recorded ancestors are copied into their records, marked as verified by you. You keep your own record of it.
In My Pairs choose New pair, then pick the cock, the hen and the season. Canora warns you when the two are related and shows how inbred their chicks would be.
My Pairs →Open the pair and add a clutch. Fill in the eggs laid, how many were fertile and how many hatched. Band chicks then adds the young birds to your records with both parents already set. Bands of another code (when you run out of your own, for example): choose Other bands and type each one.
Yes, on the pair's quick page (the one its cage card's QR code opens). Tap Speak and say what happened, for example “four eggs”, “two hatched” or “band three chicks from 15”, in your language; or type it. Canora shows what it understood and saves nothing until you confirm. Your phone turns your voice into text; only the text reaches Canora. Each account has 300 voice commands a month.
It is the share of a bird's genes likely to come twice from the same ancestor (Wright's coefficient), worked out from the ancestors in your records. A brother and sister pairing gives 25%, half-siblings 12.5%. Ancestors that are not recorded count as unrelated, so the figure is only as complete as your records.
Yes. In My Pairs choose Season report: eggs, fertility, hatching and banded chicks for each pair, with the season's totals. It can be printed.
Season report →Photos, song recordings and videos, or a link to a video on YouTube. Each can have a label. Photos are resized, and the location data cameras add is removed.
On the bird's page, under Show results, choose Add a result: the show, date, class, points, placing, award and judge.
Yes. Under the result choose Add scoresheet and take a photo or pick a PDF, up to 3 pages. Scoresheets are private unless you tick "Show the scoresheet on the public page" for that result.
Each bird keeps its own result and points. When you read a team sheet from a photo, tick "These birds sang as a team" and check the team name and the harmony (armonía), which is given once to the team, not to each bird. For results already saved, open one of them and choose "Add its team": pick the other birds at the same show that day. The team shows its total, harmony and final on each bird, and Analysis → Teams compares your teams and the birds that sing best in them.
In Market choose Sell something: what it is, a title, the town where it is, a price (or leave it empty for "Price on request") and up to 6 photos. For a bird you can attach a bird from your records, and buyers then see its pedigree and show results. Listings stay up for 30 days; you can renew them or mark them as sold in My listings.
Sell something →In Market, type your town or choose "Use my location", then pick a distance from 10 to 500 km. You can also look through a whole country or region, search by words, and filter by category and breed.
Marketplace →Log in and write to the seller on the listing. They get your message by email and answer you at your email address. Some sellers also show a WhatsApp number or their email address. Canora takes no part in the sale: see the bird before you pay, and never pay in advance to someone you have not met.
Open your listing while it is up and choose Promote. For a single payment, it comes first in the marketplace and on the home page for 7 days, with a Featured badge, and first in line for Canora's Facebook page and YouTube channel. Promoting again adds 7 more days. It is not a subscription and is not renewed by itself.
After you write to a seller through Canora, you can review them 3 days later: 1 to 5 stars and a comment, on their seller page (click their name on a listing). You can change or delete your review at any time; the seller can answer it once, publicly. The average shows once a seller has 3 reviews. Use Report under a review that is fake, offensive or shows personal details.
Wild-caught or protected birds, birds without the papers the law requires, official club bands, and anything illegal or misleading. Use "Report this listing" if you see something that breaks these rules; an administrator will look at it.
Terms of Service →Every breeder can have 10 listings up at a time; a Supporter or club plan allows 25. Sold and expired listings do not count.
Plan →In Clubs, create the club; you become its owner. Invite members by email or username, one at a time, or many at once by pasting a list.
Clubs →A club with a plan creates a show and its classes (individual birds or teams) and opens entries; members are emailed. Each member enters birds from their own records on the show's page. Closing entries gives every bird a cage number, and the club enters the points by cage. Publishing works out the places, puts the results on a public page, adds the result to each bird's records, and emails the participants.
When creating a class, the club chooses a scoresheet (Canora's standard one for the breed, or the club's own copy) and invites the judge by email from the show's page; the judge accepts with a free Canora account. After entries close, the judge opens the scoresheets on a phone or tablet, fills in each cage's criteria, sees the ranking as they go, gives awards, and signs each class off. The club publishes once every class is signed off. Judges never see who entered which bird.
Yes. Members still enter their birds in Canora, so every bird has a cage number. After the show, a Club Admin chooses Paper scoresheets on the show's page and uploads photos or PDFs of the judges' sheets. Canora reads each cage's notes; check them against the photo, correct anything, and save. Cages that are not entries in Canora are marked and cannot be saved. When a class is complete, sign it off and publish as usual: each bird gets its official result with the photo of its sheet. A club with a plan can read 300 sheets a month.
Once a season a club's owners or administrators open a band order for the year, with a deadline and a note such as the price. Members are emailed and enter how many bands they need on the club's page. The club exports the order as a spreadsheet for the band maker, and when the bands arrive marks them as delivered: each member's numbers are recorded as bands issued, after any they already have that year, and they get an email.
Clubs are free up to 10 members. A bigger club chooses a plan by size: up to 25, 50, 100 or 500 members. Every member of a club with a plan also gets more room: 5 GB for files and 25 listings. If a club with more than 10 members has no plan, it keeps all its members but cannot take new ones.
Yes. Club managers record the band numbers given to each member. Members see their own, and adding a bird suggests their next free number.
Everything is free for every breeder: your birds, pairs and pedigrees without limit, the breeding calendar, sharing with your clubs and other breeders, public pedigree pages and the marketplace. Each account has 1 GB for photos, song recordings and up to 10 uploaded videos; videos added as YouTube links take no space. A Supporter plan, $12 a year, gives 10 GB and helps keep Canora running.
Plan →Yes. Choose "Continue with Google" on the login or sign-up page. The first time, it creates your account with your Google name and email address, already confirmed. If you already have an account with the same email address, it signs you into that one. You can also choose a password later in Profile.
On the login page choose "Forgot password?" and we email you a link to choose a new one. When you are logged in, Profile has the same option.
Use the language selector at the top of the page. When you are logged in, the choice is kept in your account.
At the bottom of Profile. It removes your birds, files and records for good. If you are the only owner of a club that still has members, make another member an owner first.
